NH solid links for fuse bases and disconnectors

NH solid links are conductive inserts used to provide an uninterrupted electrical connection in compatible NH fuse bases and fuse-switch disconnectors. Unlike NH fuse-links, they contain no fusible element and therefore do not provide overload or short-circuit protection.

This category includes solid links for different NH sizes, including NH 00, NH 1, NH 2, NH 3 and NH 4a versions. They may be used for neutral conductor connections or in other positions where a solid link is specified by the electrical design and protection is provided by another device. When selecting an NH solid link, verify its size, rated current, construction and compatibility with the intended fuse base or fuse-switch disconnector.

NH solid links for continuous connections

An NH solid link is a conductive insert with blade contacts shaped to fit a specific NH system size. It is installed in a compatible NH fuse base or fuse-switch disconnector to establish a continuous electrical connection. These products may also be described as NH neutral links, solid blades or dummy fuse-links, depending on their intended application.

The absence of a fusible element is the key difference between a solid link and an NH fuse-link. An NH solid link conducts current during normal operation but does not interrupt the circuit in response to an overload or short circuit. It must therefore be used only where a solid connection is specified in the electrical design and the required circuit protection is provided elsewhere.

How to select an NH solid link

  • NH size — select an NH 00, NH 1, NH 2, NH 3 or NH 4a version compatible with the installed base or switching device.
  • Rated current — the permissible current of the link must correspond to the designed circuit parameters.
  • Compatibility — verify the blade dimensions, construction and suitability for the specific NH device.
  • Application — confirm whether the link is intended for a neutral conductor or another function specified by the electrical design.
  • Installation requirements — follow the equipment manufacturer’s documentation and applicable electrical safety procedures.

Safe use in NH systems

An NH solid link must not be used to replace a fuse-link where overcurrent protection is required. Doing so could leave the circuit without the intended overload or short-circuit protection. Installation and replacement should be carried out by a qualified person after the circuit has been safely isolated and verified as de-energized.
