NH fuses for electrical protection
NH fuses are blade-type fuse-links used in low-voltage distribution systems, distribution boards, control panels and industrial electrical installations. If an excessive overload or short circuit occurs, the fusible element interrupts the current, helping protect conductors, cables and electrical equipment against damage.
NH fuse-links have blade contacts that connect to a compatible fuse base or fuse-switch disconnector. Once a fuse has operated, it cannot be reset and must be replaced with a fuse-link that has the correct dimensions and electrical characteristics.
NH sizes and accessories
- NH 000 and NH 00 are compact fuse sizes intended for use with corresponding bases and switching devices.
- NH 1, NH 2 and NH 3 are used for higher rated currents in appropriately designed distribution systems.
- NH 4 and NH 4A must only be used with equipment designed for the relevant size.
- NH fuse bases and fuse-switch disconnectors accommodate the fuse-link and connect it to the electrical circuit.
- Fuse handles and other accessories support the safe servicing of compatible NH equipment.
How to select an NH fuse
First verify the NH size and compatibility with the intended fuse base or fuse-switch disconnector. The rated current should correspond to the protected conductors, connected load and required protection coordination, while the rated voltage must suit the electrical system. The utilization category and breaking capacity must also be checked for the intended application and prospective short-circuit current.
Physical size alone is not sufficient when choosing a replacement. All relevant ratings and the manufacturer’s requirements must be compared. NH fuse installation and replacement should be performed in accordance with the equipment documentation and applicable electrical safety procedures.
