Accessories for extending contactor functions
Contactor accessories make it possible to add control, indication, interlocking and protective functions to power contactors. Properly selected components help create clear motor-starting, load-switching and industrial automation circuits.
Auxiliary contacts change state together with the contactor and can therefore be used for status indication, holding circuits, electrical interlocking or the activation of other control devices. Depending on their design, they may be fitted to the front or side of a contactor and can provide normally open and normally closed contacts.
Main types of contactor accessories
- Front-mounted auxiliary contact blocks are installed on the front of a contactor and add the required contacts to the control circuit.
- Side-mounted auxiliary contacts are intended for compatible contactor systems that support mounting on the side of the device.
- Mechanical interlocks help prevent two interconnected contactors from being mechanically engaged at the same time.
- Protective enclosures house compatible switching components and protect them according to the requirements of the installation.
- Mounting and connection elements simplify the fixing and combination of mutually compatible devices.
How to select contactor accessories
First check the contactor series, device type and the manufacturer’s compatibility information. For auxiliary contacts, consider the number and arrangement of normally open and normally closed contacts, as well as the mounting position. When choosing interlocking, connection or enclosure components, verify their dimensions, fixing method and suitability for the intended contactor combination. Installation should follow the control diagram and the manufacturer’s instructions.
